BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — James Corder, the man accused of shooting at police officers at a Pickens County apartment complex Monday, is in fair condition at UAB Hospital.
Police went to Grandview Gardens to serve an eviction notice to Corder Monday afternoon.
Corder reportedly became upset after police left.
They were called back to the apartments a couple of hours later. Police say when they returned, Corder had a gun and fired at them.
Officers fired at and struck Corder.
He was airlifted to UAB Hospital with a gunshot wound.
Corder’s family says he has a history of mental instability.
The incident is still under investigation.
