Alabaster man indicted on sexual abuse charges

ALABASTER, Ala. (WIAT) — A 58-year-old Alabaster man has been indicted for sexually abusing a child at a daycare in his home.

Elijio Rios-Martinez is accused of molesting two girls under the age of 12 at the daycare his wife ran in their home.

Investigators tell WIAT 42 News the abuse allegedly happened during a three-month period last July at the couple’s home in the Keystone Mobile Park.

Martinez has been held in the Shelby County Jail since his arrest last July.

If convicted, Martinez faces a minimum of ten years in prison on each count.
