Previously convicted sex offender arrested for exposing himself

PINSON, Ala. (WIAT) — A convicted sex offender was arrested Wednesday for exposing himself to people in the parking lot of a grocery store.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Randy Christian says 41-year-old John Allen Racine was arrested at his home on Walnut Grove Road in Pinson.

Christian says the initial incident happened on May 2 when reports indicated a man exposed himself to people in the parking lot of a Pinson grocery store.

Just a few days later he was spotted inside the store with a small child.

A citizen photographed Racine’s license plate and turned it over to authorities. The photos ultimately led to authorities identifying Racine as the suspect in the case.

Racine is charged with indecent exposure and violation of the sex offender act. He was convicted in Florida of lewd exhibition with a 12-year-old male in 2008.

He’s being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $21,000 bond.
