Birmingham police respond to Youtube gang threat

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A YouTube video produced by a group called “Black District” has been taken down.

The video is a tribute to to Devante “Red Man” Hinds who was killed by a Jefferson County Deputy on May 9th.

Hinds was driving a car at the deputy forcing the deputy to respond with deadly force in the Roebuck Walmart parking lot on Parkway East.

The video quickly went viral in the Birmingham area… and Birmingham Police identified several people as members of a gang on the city’s East side.

The video contains blatant threats against law enforcement including images showing police officers bleeding.

Lt. Sean Edwards with the Birmingham Police Department tells WIAT 42 News that officers across the city are aware of the threat as are outside agencies.

As Saturday morning the video had been removed and replaced with a short tribute to Birmingham Police Officers.
