Birmingham, Ala. (WIAT) – Just steps away from the alley where he was shot and killed, family and friends gathered in memory of 29-year-old Christopher Handley Friday.
Handley was found shot to death in his car behind his grandmother’s house along Pearson Avenue South West on May 20th.
“People think that he was some type of thug or that he was just out here gang banging or he was just another statistic, he was somebody’s brother, he was somebody’s son,” said April Miles, Handley’s sister.
He was also a father of a little girl.
Christopher’s father addressed the crowd and says he’s is trying to find some good in a tragic situation.
“The best thing out of this you know, maybe this will help somebody else. Sometimes hurt helps somebody else.
Friends and family want answers and justice, but for now they are doing anything that can bring the smallest amount of comfort while dealing with the tragedy.
With candles in hand they walked to the alley where Christopher took his last breath and prayer for him and his family.
They are asking whoever is responsible to do the right thing and come forward.
Over the next several days family and friends will hold fundraisers in order to come up with the $8,000 needed for burial expenses.
