BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Now that school is almost out for the summer, many parents are deciding which activities their children will participate while they’re not in the classroom. The Gross Out Camp is a perfect opportunity to keep children outside exploring, learning and getting some exercise.
The camp is put on by Fresh Air Family in partnership with Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It’s a hands-on biology experience where kids can learn about anything from fungus and worms to crawfish and snakes.
“We want to cover soils, rocks, snakes or whatever we want to cover, but then we discover things we hadn’t thought about doing that day, so a lot of it is extemporaneous,” said Henry Hughes, the Director of Education for the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Kids are guaranteed to come home dirty, tired and ready for the next day. For more information, click here.
