BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — In our world of technology many people have become obsessed with their smart phones, tablets, and computers. But when they aren’t used correctly, or used for too a long period of time, they may lead to some aches and pains.
Doctors are calling some of these problems: smart phone finger, mouse tendinitis, or a tablet neck. There is a remedy to getting your body back into proper alignment though, and it starts with sitting up straight.
Experts say you want the top of your screen to be roughly at or just below eye level. You want your shoulders relaxed, and elbows close to your body. You should already be protecting your lower body because you want your thighs parallel to the floor. You want your hips, knees and ankles at 90% angles and you want your feet flat on the floor. Additionally, taking frequent breaks can also help reduce injury.
