GREENE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Greene County’s bingo battle returned to court, but this time, the fight is over files. The Attorney General’s office has made a motion to obtain documents related to perjury charges against three men who acted as witnesses for the state in a 2011 trial.
Up until now Greene County’s District Attorney, Greg Griggers, has refused to hand over the documents. “They’re superintending it just so they can ask it be dismissed. I mean, it’s not very complicated. He does not want his expert and his investigators prosecuted, even though they perjured themselves in order to try to give him an advantage in these cases in Greene County,” says Griggers.
The Attorney General’s office says Greg Griggers has no authority to withhold information from the AG’s office. So far the judge has not made a ruling.
