Study: Multiple severe sunburns before the age of 20 greatly increases melanoma chances

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Young Caucasian women who get blistering sunburns may be greatly increasing their risk of developing skin cancer.

Researchers in Rhode Island found that just 5 severe sunburns before the age of 20 could increase your chances of developing melanoma by 80%.

Doctors say people with high risk traits like red hair and moles should be extra careful.
