Vulcan celebrating 110th year in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — He’s a staple of the Iron City, and he’s celebrating his birthday this weekend. It’s none other than Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and forge. The big guy is celebrating his 110th year in Birmingham this weekend and you’re invited to the big bash!

There will be lots of activities from a Lego’s competition, to a rock wall and face painting. The Vulcan Museum will be open for tours, as well as the tower, so you can get a beautiful view of Birmingham. Cristina Almanza, Director of Marketing and PR for Vulcan, says there is no better way to start the summer than being around a landmark of the community, “Usually I learn the most and my best memories are from when I was out, what better way to start your summer than being with your city’s landmark learning about the city’s history an also being part of it at the same time.”

The party will take place this Sunday, June 1st from 12pm to 4 pm at Vulcan Park and Museum. Tickets are $5 and free for kids 5 and under.
