KEENER, Ala. (AP) – Authorities have identified a 9-year-old boy who was killed in a fire at a mobile home in Keener.
Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin says Callister Atchley was killed Monday night when a fire tore through his family’s mobile home Monday night in Keener. Entrekin says Atchley’s body is being sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the boy’s cause of death.
Authorities say a 33-year-old woman, a 10-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy were also hospitalized in the fire.
Entrekin says the state fire marshal’s office and county fire officials are investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
Keener is about 12 miles northeast of Gadsden.
