Neighbor, off-duty officer hold burglary suspect at gunpoint

PINSON, Ala. (WIAT) – Jefferson County authorities arrested a Pinson man who was held at gunpoint by homeowners after he was caught in the process of burglarizing a home Sunday morning.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Randy Christian says deputies responded to a call of a burglary in progress Sunday morning around 9:15 a.m. They found an off-duty Tarrant police officer and another neighbor holding the suspect, 29-year-old Noah Carter, at gunpoint.

Christian says a neighbor saw Carter pull up to the home and run to the back. He was seen entering the house, going from room to room.

The neighbor alerted another neighbor, an off-duty officer, and the two stopped Carter as he was exiting the house. They held him at gunpoint until authorities arrived on the scene.

Carter is charged with third-degree burglary and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $8,000 bond.
