PORTUGAL (WIAT) — New leads are prompting investigators to start digging for clues in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. British detectives are searching an area of brush in the vacation spot in Portugal where the 3-year-old disappeared in 2007.
One of the sites is about the size of three football fields and a ten minute walk along the coast from the resort where the McCann family stayed. Teams are bringing in radar equipment and mechanical diggers to scour every inch of the area for clues.
Police searched the same area back in 2007 but want to have another look after investigators recently learned about a string of sexual assaults involving British girls.
