Recruiting 100 mentors in 100 days for area youth

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — One organization hopes to stop the violence in the area with a school-based mentor program. Starting now in early June and running through September 9th, “Growing Kings” is on a mission to recruit 100 mentors in 100 days.

Marcus Carson of Growing Kings says, “[mentors] don’t necessarily have to be what’s termed the young professional or work in a specific industry. We want to expose our students to all of the things that are out there, all the different career paths.”

The mentors will work with students in 4th through 12th grade. The deadline to sign up is September 9th.
