Sam’s Club introducing high tech credit cards

Sam's Club

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Credit cards at Sam’s Club are going high tech. The store plans to offer a MasterCard that contains a microchip instead of a magnetic strip. The chips are currently used in Europe and have cut down on fraud and the theft of credit card numbers.

Target is also making a microchip card after they suffered a huge data breach last year. Walmart is expected to issue similar cards this summer.

Sam’s Club’s new card will be available June 23rd.
