Police charge husband with Murder after shooting wife at Glenwood Behavioral Center

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The husband of a woman shot Friday afternoon on Glenwood Lane in Birmingham has now been charged with her murder.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards tells WIAT 42 News that 50-year-old James Davis of Birmingham walked into the Glenwood Autism & Behavioral Health Center, shot his wife multiple times, then walked out the facility. The woman, identified as 55-year-old Stephanie Grisby-Davis from Birmingham, died at the scene.

The shooting happened in a laundry and maintenance building.

After the shooting, Davis carjacked someone near the facility and drove to the Jack’s in Irondale. He got out of the car and the driver ran inside and asked someone to call the police.

Irondale police caught the suspect walking along Montclair Road. He was still armed when he was arrested.

Davis is in the Jefferson County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
