Fairfield police capture escaped inmate


FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: Fairfield police Chief Leon Davis Jr. says Germany was captured in the Wenonah area. She will be transported to the county jail. Germany now faces a second-degree escape charge. Germany’s bond is set at $15,000.

ORIGINAL: Police in Fairfield are looking for an inmate who escaped from the Fairfield City Jail Friday afternoon.

Fairfield police Chief Leon Davis Jr. says 22-year-old Tanaka Germany escaped from the jail around 12:30 p.m. Friday. Germany was being held in the jail after she was arrested for shoplifting from Burlington’s Wednesday. Davis says Germany was also being held on several outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the city.

Germany was last seen wearing Fairfield City Jail inmate clothing, which consists of a black and white hospital-style jumpsuit.
