Protecting your pets from wild animals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Brenda Thorn of Sylacauga heard her daughter yelling for help. When she ran to see what was happening she saw a rabid raccoon attacking their Australian sheepdog, Gabby. She grabbed a butcher knife, and started stabbing the raccoon. Brenda tells WIAT 42 the thought of danger never entered her mind.

Protecting your pets from wild animals and rabies is very important. Phil Doster, of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, stopped by Wake Up Alabama to discuss what you can do to protect your pets.
