BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A bond revocation hearing turned into much more Friday when the suspect got up and walked out of court.
Dominique Smith, 22, faces murder charges and now could face escape charges.
Smith’s attorney tells WIAT 42 News that Smith was overcome with anxiety after his bond was revoked, so he walked out of the courthouse.
Smith didn’t make it too far. He met his mother a few minutes later and she returned him to the courthouse where he was arrested.
His murder charged stems from a deadly crash in 2012. A family of three, including a 10-month-old girl, died after a car Smith was in collided with their vehicle on Birmingport Road.
Police say Smith and another man were on the run after a robbery in Cordova.
