MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – The second-place finisher in the Republican primary for governor, Stacy Lee George, says he will support Republican Gov. Robert Bentley in the general election in November.
George is a former Morgan County Commissioner who works at a state prison in Limestone County. He said Sunday that he enjoyed campaigning across the state and plans to seek another office in the future.
Bentley won the primary last week with 89 percent of the vote. George pulled 6 percent. Retired Scottsboro businessman Bob Starkey got 5 percent.
