BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s a problem that can affect any athlete and the effects from concussions can last a lifetime, even after the game ends. But it’s not just limited to professional athletes.
The discussion over the impact of concussions continues to grow in the country. More and more parents, student athletes, and coaches are learning the repercussions of not being properly treated after being injured.
The Wise Up Initiative, and Children’s of Alabama are teaming up to get the conversation started here in the Birmingham area.
Former pro football player Kevin Drake and Director of UAB Sports Medicine at Children’s Hospital, Drew Ferguson sat down with WIAT 42’s Stephen Hauck to talk about the growing importance of concussion awareness, as well as, the Cutting Edge Concussion Summit scheduled for this Friday, June 13th.
