NORTHPORT, Ala. (WIAT) – Neighbors are having a hard time understanding why a Moundville man opened fire on a Tuscaloosa sheriff’s deputy Monday night.
Authorities were told Roylee Dixon, 48, was at a Northport home with a shotgun. Investigators believe he was trying to confront them about an earlier argument.
Dixon fired several shots inside the home. WIAT 42 News is told there were three adults and two children inside the home at the time of the shooting.
When a deputy arrived, he demanded Dixon drop his gun. Dixon aimed and fired at the deputy, who then returned fire, striking Dixon.
Dixon died at DCH Medical Center. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation into the case.
