Mountain Brook police seek person of interest in connection with missing ring

MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (WIAT) – Mountain Brook police are looking for a person of interest or witness of a missing ring at a business in Mountain Brook.

The incident took place on June 5 between the hours of 9:20 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The police department released surveillance images of the woman who is sought.

The victim tells WIAT 42 News she was waiting in line at the Verizon Wireless store and sat down to wait for her name to be called. She says she took her wedding ring off, put it in her lap and put lotion on her hands. While she was doing so, her name was called.

The victim says she stood up and the ring fell behind the chair. According to the victim, surveillance footage shows a woman walk over to the chair, put her purse on top of the ring, put the ring into her purse and leave the store. The victim tells WIAT 42 News she has been married for 28 years.
