BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)- You don’t normally see camouflage, deer, and bass boats in an urban area. This weekend is the exception, however, as the “Rick & Bubba Outdoor Expo” takes over the BJCC for Fathers Day Weekend. “Hunting, fishing, if it has to do with the outdoors we’re talking about it,” said Bubba Bussey, one of the shows co-hosts.
The expo has vendors ranging from boat and fishing rod sales, to cooking demonstrations.
Bussey says he and his co-host, Rick Burgess, are conservationists. They want to bring back the love of outdoors that many lose after childhood. This is also an excellent chance, he says, to encourage fathers to spend time with their children. “We’ve worked for years on “The Rick and Bubba Show” to elevate Fathers Day to the point of Mothers Day,” he said. “We need a little push on this.”
The Rick and Bubba Outdoor Expo runs through Sunday.
Admission is $10, and kids under 12 get in free.
