TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — If your daily commute takes you through Trussville, you may need to find a detour.
Chalkville Road between Rockridge Avenue/Poplar Street and Hewitt Street will be closed starting Monday, June 16, 2014 and will stay closed most of the summer.
The reason for long closure, the city has a lot of renovations and improvements planned for that stretch of road. This will include removal of dead or diseased trees, sidewalk repairs or replacement, drainage improvement, curb replacement and completely removing the pavement and rebuilding the road from the ground up.
Traffic will be diverted to Rockridge Avenue or Parkway Drive.
The city hopes to have the construction finished and the road opened back up before school begins.
