Teens trade smoking for texting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Parents might want to think twice before complaining about their teen texting so much.

The constant phone usage could be keeping them from drinking or smoking. Even though its protecting them from those dangers, it can still be a threat when behind the wheel. Teens are texting while driving.

The centers for disease control talked with 13,000 high school students around the nation. They found the rate of teens smoking is at the lowest level ever. School fights are also down as is the number of teens drinking. But–almost half of the teens said they have texted or emailed while driving.
