BUHL, Ala. (WIAT) – The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says a train derailment prompted a precautionary evacuation of homes near the tracks in Buhl.
The sheriff’s office’s Facebook page reports the derailment is being worked by first responders on the scene. Six homes were affected by the precautionary evacuation. The evacuation was put into place because the tankers are carrying oil.
Those affected by the evacuation were allowed back into their homes shortly after 4 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office says none of the oil has spilled at this point.
WIAT 42 News has a crew headed to the scene and will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
