BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Birmingham police arrested and charged a suspect with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of Arthur Mills, who was killed Sunday while trying to help a neighbor who was getting robbed.
Davarius McGee, 22, is charged with capital murder, first-degree robbery and attempted murder. The robbery and attempted murder charge carry bonds totaling $120,000. The capital murder charge carries no bond.
Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says officers with the East Precinct located and got behind a Hyundai Sonata that was taken in a carjacking on June 11.
Police followed the car and apprehended McGee, who fled from the car on foot. Edwards says a couple items taken in the burglary were found. The items belong to Mills’ neighbor.
