Owner of dog that killed boy charged with criminally negligent homicide

RIVERSIDE, Ala. (WIAT) – The owner of a dog that killed a five-year-old boy is now charged with the child’s death. Johnny Kay Sr., 57, was indicted by a St. Clair County grand jury.

He’s charged with criminally negligent homicide. Investigators say Kay’s pit bull terrier attacked five -year-old John Harvard in April. He was playing outside with his nine-year-old brother at the time.

Kay is free on bond. If convicted, he could face up to one year in jail.
