Road accident

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Authorities in Jefferson County are investigating a traffic accident that left one dead inside a burned vehicle. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman says deputies were called to a home on Lock 17 Road around 2 a.m. to investigate reports of an injured woman.

Deputies were told the 52-year-old woman walked to a home and was disoriented and bleeding. Christian says the woman was unable to recall what happened to her. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The woman awoke in the hospital Friday morning and recalled being involved in a traffic accident but was unable to remember where it occurred. She said there was a fire, and a man who was with her was still in the vehicle.

Jefferson County deputies and the Concord Fire Department located the burned vehicle in a wooded area near Lock 17 Road and Paul Allman Road. The man’s burned body was found inside the vehicle. His identity has not been released at this time.

Christian says the accident is still under investigation.
