Montgomery woman identified as one killed in I-65 accident in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – Natalie Perez, 46 of Montgomery, has been identified as the person who was killed Friday evening on I-65 North at mile marker 235.Officials say Perez was travelling as a passenger in a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer when the vehicle overturned and collided with a 2012 Toyota Camry.

Alabama Troopers say there were six occupants in the Trailblazer, none of whom where wearing seat belts. The driver of the Trailblazer was transported to UAB with serious injuries. An eight-year-old passenger who was ejected from the Trailblazer was transported to Children’s with serious injuries.

The driver of the Camry, who was the occupant of that vehicle, was transported to UAB with only suffered minor injuries.Troopers say this person was wearing a seat belt.

The Alabama State Troopers will continue to investigate this accident and urges the public to buckle up when behind the wheel or riding as a passenger.
