BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Residents in Alabama are usually encouraged to be prepared for disasters, such as tornadoes.
Now, the “Be Prepared, Not Scared” summer camp is making an effort to teach children how to be prepared.
Children in fifth grade through seventh grade are learning how to be prepared for emergencies.
They’re covering a wide range of topics, including everything from severe weather to a school shooting.
The camp is sponsored by Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale and the Fresh Air Family.
More spots are available at the camp.
