ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – The search for a missing Talladega man who drowned in Logan Martin Lake has been called off for the day due to inclement weather.

More than 60 people from 15 agencies including the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office have been out searching for the missing 50-year-old man who was last seen Saturday night.

Undersheriff Billy Murray tells WIAT 42 News that Kent Wesley Franklin of Talladega was boating with friends around 9 p.m near the main channel of the lake when Franklin jumped from the boat and never resurfaced.

Murray says Franklin was not wearing a life vest and that alcohol could be involved in the drowning.

The search has been happening off of Logan Martin Dam Road and Rivercrest Lane just south of Pell City. Officials are using sonar equipment and K-9 units in an effort to locate Franklin.

The search will resume Monday morning at 8 a.m.
