Body of man recovered from Logan Martin Lake

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – After nearly two days of searching the waters of Logan Martin Lake, rescue crews made up of authorities and volunteers from as far away as Alex city and Etowah County found the body of a man floating near a bridge on the lake. Family and friends of Franklin were at the lake on Tuesday, not giving up hope that he would be found.

Undersheriff Billy Murray of the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department says more than 60 people helped look for Franklin over the last two days making for a widespread search effort.

Murray says the body was located around 2 p.m. The body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy and identification. Now they are waiting to hear back results of the autopsy.
