Man arrested over the weekend for human trafficking


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Birmingham police and the FBI arrested and charged numerous people in connection with an online escort service in the Birmingham area over the past weekned, according to Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards.

Edwards says the FBI and local law enforcement targeted escorts posting on the website Fred Lacy was arrested and charged with first-degree human trafficking, which is a Class A felony offense. His bond is set at $500,000.

Several other people were arrested and face misdemeanor charges for solicitation of prostitution.

“The escorts working off of is a national issue, the Birmingham Vice Unit routinely addresses this issue on all levels, to include the escorts, clients and panderers,” Edwards said.

Edwards says Lacy is being taken to the Shelby County Jail.
