BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Nearly a dozen people are recovering after a bus ended up inside a Wells Fargo. Birmingham police say the accident happened at the intersection of 18th Street and 3rd Avenue just before 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
According to witnesses, the car sideswiped the bus, pushing it into a bank. All 11 people on the bus and driver of the car were treated for minor injuries.
No one inside the bank was hurt.
“It was a new vehicle. The operator that was operating the vehicle is one of our prize operators,” said Ann August, the executive director for Max Transit. “She competed in the international rodeo competition about a month and a half ago.”
Police say the driver of the car told them she ran the red light because she was late for a job interview.
