Three vehicles involved in fatal accident on I-459

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: A release from the Alabama Department of Public Safety has confirmed the name of the person killed in the three-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning on I-459. Joseph Conzelman, 52, from Mountain Brook, was killed when his 2011 Porsche Panamera collided with a 1997 Bounder R.V. and struck a utility pole. The crash occurred at 1:50 a.m. on Interstate 459, in a construction zone, at exit 13 in Hoover.

The release goes on to say there was minor damage to a Alabama State Trooper patrol car that was parked in the construction zone, outside of the travel lanes, with emergency lights activated. There were no other injuries reported. Preliminary investigations indicated that speed was a factor in the crash. State Troopers are continuing to investigate the accident. WIAT 42 will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
