BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Now that he’s out of jail, popular youth evangelist Matt Pitt is preaching again, and he has permission from the court to travel out of Alabama to spread his message.
Pitt, the founder of The Basement youth ministry, served eight months in jail for violating probation after he was arrested for impersonating a police officer for a second time.
As a condition of his bond, Pitt was given travel restrictions. At the request of his attorney, the district attorney agreed to lift those restrictions.
Now, Pitt is free to go anywhere he wants, which includes Destin, where The Basement is holding a beach conference over the July 4th weekend.
