HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — Hoover police are investigating a prank call to 911 that responded to early Wednesday morning. The original call was about a domestic violence shooting inside a home on Pine Rock Lane in Hoover. Police believed someone could be shot and the shooter was possibly still inside the home.
Police, fire fighters, and paramedics responded to the area. After investigating, they realized the entire thing was a hoax. Someone called 911 and gave them the address, but the man living at the house tells WIAT 42 News he has no idea who it could have been.
Police say making a fake call to 911 is similar to making a false police report. If they find out who made the prank call, they could file criminal charges.
