ANNISTON, Ala. (WIAT) — The students may still be in high school, but soon they’ll be training for what they want to do after they graduate. On Wednesday, WIAT 42 News caught up with some Anniston High School students participating in the police department’s Junior Police Academy.
The juniors and seniors are going through a variety of exercises this week. Exercises include everything from active shooter training to building clearing.
“I think a lot of them base their interests a lot on probably what they see on TV,” said Curtis McCants with the Anniston Police Department. “This is an opportunity for them to get somewhat of a real-life experience.”
Most of the students participating in the program plan to pursue careers in law enforcement.
