Negro League Baseball Museum breaks ground in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – After being approved by the Birmingham City Council five years ago, Birmingham’s Negro League Baseball Museum is finally becoming a reality.

A groundbreaking for the museum was held Wednesday. Members of the Birmingham Black Barons were there for the big event. The museum will be built behind Regions Field in downtown Birmingham.

It will feature exhibits, a theater and a restaurant. The museum is scheduled to open next March.
