DANVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — A community mourns the loss of a local teen killed in an accident involving a car.

A vehicle hit and killed 15-year-old high school student Austin Cook as he was walking to a weight training class. Cook would have been a high school freshman this fall. He was planning on playing football for Danville High School in Morgan County.

Football is all anyone remembers Austin talking about. Friend Kelly Tanner tells WIAT she had numerous conversations with t he young athlete and several times she’d be talking to him and somehow the conversation always ended up revolving around football.

The driver of the vehicle’s identity has not been released and there is no word on if the driver has been charged.
