BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Newspapers used to be the place to find the best coupons and discounts but online shopping has taken over that popularity and now there’s a new twist, websites that will pay you to shop.

Ebates, Hoopla Doopa and Mister Rebates are just a few of these websites that pay their customers to spend money.

Ebates.com offers cash back on purchases at 1700 online retailers. The store pays Ebates a fee for bringing them the business, then Ebates gives users a cut.

Online shopping experts say that these sites are good for frequent shoppers but you do need to do your research to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Ebates users get a payment once every three months with their cash back. The company says it has paid over 250 million in cash to its members.
