Bachus’ chief of staff biking to raise money to fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Most people would have trouble sitting in a car for 3,500 miles, let alone riding a bike for that long. However, that’s what Congresswoman Spencer Bachus’ chief of staff is doing.

Michael Stanley isn’t doing it just for fun. He’s riding for a reason. His goal is to help boys, like 9-year-old Gabe Griffin, fight a deadly disease.

Griffin has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is the number one genetic killer of boys. Staley began his ride Friday in Oregon and should arrive in Mobile August 20.

All the money he raises along the way will go towards research aimed at finding a cure.
