Man facing animal cruelty charges to appear in court Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A Birmingham man charged with several counts of animal cruelty is scheduled to appear in front of a judge Wednesday morning.

Scott Kirkland faces five counts of animal cruelty and one count of operating a business without a license.  The charges came after the sheriff’s office searched the Birmingham Animal Adoption and Rescue Center, also known as B.A.A.R.C.

Fourteen animals were taken from the facility.
