What to do in Birmingham this weekend: Fourth of July holiday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Happy Fourth of July weekend! For many it will be a long weekend, and there is plenty to do around the area to occupy your three days off! Antwon Ervin from Discover Birmingham is here to share some events you can find around town.

Thursday July 3rd:

Birmingham Art Crawl | 5 – 9pm

On the first Thursday of every month, downtown Birmingham transforms into a walking gallery full of artists, musicians, performers, food & fun!

This 5:00 – 9:00 pm, rain or shine, happening is a great way to meet local artists and performers, buy and appreciate their work, and be part of the rapidly growing art scene in Birmingham. An estimated 2,500+ art enthusiasts attend each month to support more than 30 local artists.

A Night of Comedy with Martin Morrow and Friends

Iron City | 8pm

Martin Morrow is originally from Birmingham, AL where he started doing stand-up, improv, and belonged to an award winning sketch/stand-up hybrid “Tubbi and Martin”. Martin has performed in clubs, colleges, and festivals all over the country including Atlanta, Austin, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, and Portland and has worked with some of the top names in comedy.

One night only with Martin Morrow and special guests Tollie Jones, Olivia Cathcart, Michael McCall and host Christopher Davis is on July 3rd at Iron City!

Friday July 4th:

Jazz in the Park | 6 – 9pm: Sonja Hopkins and Justin Klunk

With our starting time of 6 p.m., umbrellas should not be needed. However, if you decide to bring one for your comfort, they are only allowed in the up position between acts and must come down while artists are performing. Parking is located on streets near the venue. Please secure your vehicle as concert organizers and venue are not responsible for stolen property.

Thunder on the Mountain | 9pm

Alabama’s most celebrated Fourth of July tradition will once again illuminate the sky of Birmingham. Bring your family, a date, a friend or the whole gang to watch the fireworks dance in the sky to a musical soundtrack of patriotic favorites and popular musical performances.

ETC. Improv comedy show | 6pm

Railroad Park: FREE and Family Friendly
