TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT)- Alabama State Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that happened on I-59 South at the 80 mile marker. It occurred Saturday morning around 5:35 a.m. Troopers confirmed that one person has died and three were injured.
The accident victim has been identified as Racquel Taylor, 31, from Tuscaloosa. She was travelling as a passenger when 2004 Honda Odyssey she was in left the road and overturned. Taylor was not wearing a seat belt. Another passenger in the vehicle was transported to DCH with life-threatening injuries; they also were not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the vehicle and another passenger suffered minor injuries. They were treated and released from DCH. Troopers say they were wearing seat belts.
The southbound lane was closed as Tuscaloosa Police diverted traffic off the 79 Exit. That roadway reopened at 8:30 a.m.
This accident is still under investigation.
