Bessemer police capture inmate who escaped Tuesday afternoon

BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: Officials on the scene tell WIAT 42 News the inmate has been captured. He was first taken to the Bessemer Jail on robbery charges and managed to escape out of the back door Tuesday afternoon.

He was captured in a house on Arlington Avenue, which is located a few blocks behind the Bessemer Jail.

ORIGINAL: Bessemer police say they are looking for an escaped inmate. Reports of the escaped inmate came in around 2:45 p.m.

Police are set up at Carolina Avenue and 15th Street.
