BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The Birmingham City School Board got a big surprise Tuesday afternoon on a little slip of paper. They were the recipients of a $6.49 million check, which was part of a one cent sales tax that was previously passed.
The check contained the additional capital funds.
The board also received an additional $1 million check from the county. Most of the money will be used on current renovation projects.
