TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – Tuscaloosa police say a woman was shot while at a stop light Sunday night. Police spokesman Sgt. Dale Phillips says the victim, a 21-year-old female, told police she was at a red light at New Watermelon Road and Rice Mine Road around 9 p.m.
Phillips says the woman heard a noise and then felt burning in her left arm. She realized she had been shot and was taken to DCH Medical Center by a family member. Police say she suffered one gunshot wound from a small caliber weapon.
She was treated for her injury and released.
Police believe the suspect vehicle in the shooting is a silver four-door Toyota Tacoma. Anyone with information pertaining to the suspect vehicle or the shooting is asked to contact the Tuscaloosa County Homicide Unit at (205) 464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-2121.
